The Louisiana State University Health New Orleans (LSUHNO) School of Dentistry in New Orleans invites nominations and applications for the position of full time tenue or clinical track faculty in the Department of Prosthodontics at the Assistant Professor rank. Major responsibilities will center on pre-doctoral and graduate level didactic, pre-clinical and clinical instruction in prosthodontics, including serving as a course director, participation in intramural faculty practice, excellence in academic pursuits and service, and include opportunities for participation in the development of departmental research and/or other scholarly activities.

Applicants’ qualifications should include interdisciplinary and/or interdepartmental work and experience with a variety of teaching methods or curricular perspectives. Applicants should possess the skills and knowledge to provide clinical coverage in all aspects of Prosthodontics. The candidate needs to have a strong clinical background, be organized, open minded, dedicated to teaching students according to the guidelines set by the department, proficient with technology and the use of electronic health records, abreast of current evidence-based dentistry and possess excellent communication skills.


Candidates must have a DDS, DMD or equivalent degree and a certificate of Prosthodontics specialty from a CODA-accredited postgraduate prosthodontics program. Preferred qualifications include previous teaching experience and board certification.


The Louisiana State University School of Dentistry was founded in 1968 and is the only dental school in the state. It is located in the City Park area of New Orleans, Louisiana on a 23-acre campus. The School of Dentistry is one of six schools comprising the University’s Health Sciences Center. It is staffed by more than 130 full and part-time faculty and serves approximately 300 students in pre-doctoral and graduate training programs.
