Chair of Pediatric Dentistry

Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry

Oregon Health & Science University is seeking a Chair of Pediatric Dentistry.  The Chair is tasked with managing and building the Pediatric Dentistry department, bringing the department to prominence within OHSU and nationally; mentoring and evaluating faculty; and fiscal management of the department. The Chair will participate in the school and institutional committees, councils, and engage in public service activities. The responsibilities of this position include clinical and didactic teaching at the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral level, participating in dental research (including clinical research), participating in departmental administration and strategic planning activities, delivering continuing dental education, and providing direct patient care.  *Please apply online at ohsujobs.com, then search using IRC62953.

Required Qualifications:

  • Dental degree (DDS/DMD) from a CODA accredited school
  • Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry recognized by the Commission on Dental Education of the American Dental Association (CODA)
  • Eligible for board certification from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry
  • Eligible for licensure in Oregon
  • Current license endorsement in moderate sedation
  • BLS/ACLS from the American Heart Association
  • PALS from the American Heart Association
  • Teaching experience in a formal academic setting
  • Able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Membership and participation in professional societies in Pediatric Dentistry and dental research
  • Demonstrated service activities such as committee participation at the school and university level
  • Course director or co-directorship experience
  • Demonstrated mentorship of Master’s level research projects including committee chairmanship, achievement in research including awards, extra-mural funding, and publications in peer reviewed journals, and experience giving presentations at research meetings
  • IRB committee participation
  • Journal reviewer
  • Three years of clinical and didactic teaching experience
