The University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry invites applications for a full time tenured Associate or Professor rank to serve as Associate Dean for Research in the College of Dentistry. Rank will be commensurate with experience. The Associate Dean will direct the College’s Office of Research Services and serve as the liaison between the College and the Vice Chancellor for Research and the Offices of Technology Management, Protection of Research Subjects, and Research Services. The successful candidate will provide vision and leadership in the administration of the College’s research programs and will foster collaborative research activities that will create robust interdisciplinary research partnerships.
The University of Illinois at Chicago has a long history of clinical, research and scholarly achievements and has a strong national reputation. Research strengths in the College include wound healing, tissue engineering, inflammation/immunology, cancer biology, caries and functional foods, and oral health disparities. The College is located in one of the most comprehensive academic health sciences centers in the U. S. that includes a Comprehensive Cancer Center, Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, College of Medicine, College of Applied Health Sciences, School of Public Health, College of Engineering, College of Nursing and College of Pharmacy.
Candidate must have a DDS/DMD, MD/DO, or PhD (or equivalent degree), have a history of sustained and ongoing extramural funded research, and must have academic/scientific experience in research mentoring. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience of mentoring junior faculty, graduate and/or professional students. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in fostering collaborative research between a dental school and outside entities is desired.
