The Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) program for Graduates of non-U.S Accredited Dental Schools is a two-year (6-semester) fast-track program for dentists who graduated from non-U.S. accredited dental schools. It enables dentists who were trained in non-U.S. accredited institutions to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to practice in the United States.

Requirements to apply to program

English Language Proficiency

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
  • A valid minimum score of 230 (computer-based test), or 92 (internet-based test) within two (2) years is required.

National Board Dental Examination Requirements

  • NBDE Part 1: passing score is required; NBDE Part 2: passing score is preferred.
  • NBDE Part 1 scores MUST be within eight (8) years. Older scores will require ADAT.

Letters of Evaluation

  • Three official professional letter of recommendations are required.
  • One should be from the Academic Dean’s level of the dental school from which the student graduated.
  • Letters should be provided on school or company letterhead with the evaluators’ contact details, and be written within the last 2 years.

Transcripts and Evaluations

  • All applicants are required to have their foreign degree(s) and transcripts translated and evaluated by the Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE) in a "Detail Report" / "Course by Course" report.
  • World Education Services (WES) evaluation reports are not accepted.

Application Fees

  • A $100 non-refundable supplemental application fee is required by the program.

To be considered for review of application, each applicant must fulfill the following steps:

Step 1: ADEA CAAPID Application
Submit an online application to ADEA's Centralized Application for Advanced Placement for International Dentists (CAAPID) by the application deadline.

Step 2:  University of Nevada Las Vegas, School of Dental Medicine D.D.S. program application packet.

Please use the below checklist for your application packet and reference:

  1. COMPLETED APPLICATION FORM

      The completed application form needs be signed and dated by the individual applying to the program.

  2. APPLICATION FEE

    A nonrefundable application fee of $100 US dollars must be submitted with the application. A cashier’s check or money order for the application fee should be payable to “Board of Regents”.

  3. FOREIGN DENTAL DEGREE (DIPLOMA) AND DENTAL SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT

    An official copy of diploma and/or degree, transcript (translated into English) from the applicant’s dental school or equivalent institution must be submitted to UNLV School of Dental Medicine Admissions Office DDS Committee either directly by the applicants’ dental school or in the original sealed envelope with the application packet. If the transcripts are in a language other than English, they must be accompanied by a U.S. certified English translation.  Notarized copies are not accepted.

  4. LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION

    Three (3) official letters of professional recommendation (One should be from the Academic Dean’s level of the dental school from which the student graduated). Letters should be provided on school or company letterhead with the evaluators’ contact details, sealed and should be written within the past two years.
