On June 16, Gov. Pat Quinn (D-IL) approved S.B. 741 (see pdf page 206). The new law restores Medicaid adult dental benefits, which were cut in 2012 by the state legislature. According to the final bill text, on or after July 1, 2014, adult dental services for Medicaid patients will no longer be limited to emergencies, and adult dental services necessary for the health of a pregnant Medicaid recipient prior to delivery of her baby will continue to be covered. Additionally, on June 9, Gov. Quinn approved H.B. 6060 (see pdf page 104), which allocates $35,000,000 toward the restored adult dental benefits.
