ADEA is pleased to share the recently published findings of the 2010-11 Dental Faculty Salary Report, which provides information on the guaranteed annual salary of full-time U.S. dental school faculty, and on their 2010-11 total compensation. Total compensation includes guaranteed annual salary, benefits and diverse income sources. This survey is conducted annually through the work of the ADEA Educational Research and Analysis (ADEA ERA) Portfolio.

The report includes data on more than 10,000 dental school faculty members. There are several notable highlights. Salary varies significantly based on primary appointment, rank and region. Each academic rank’s uniqueness lies in median salary variations across primary appointment categories. Median guaranteed annual salaries for department chairs were higher for those faculty members whose primary focus is research compared to those in the clinical sciences.

Thanks to change in the timing of data collection, the 2011-12 salary report will be available February 2014.
