ADEA as part of its ongoing focus on interprofessional education (IPE) would like to encourage dental school faculty to sign up for the next Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) Institute October 7–9, 2013, in Chicago, IL. Individuals will attend as teams with a minimum of three people and a maximum of five people. At least three health professions must be represented on each team. The ADEA Institutional Capacity Building (ICB) provides ongoing staff support for ADEA’s IPE initiatives.
The Institute is a unique opportunity for dental school faculty to come together and learn more about IPE and collaborative practice standards. Attendees will be grouped with those from other health professions schools, with more than 50 teams made up of other professional school faculty and have the opportunity to work together and also learn from experts. Attendees will come away with a program on how to introduce students to IPE.
As part of furthering this important work of the portfolio, Dr. Anthony Palatta had the opportunity to educate his ADEA staff colleagues about the importance of IPE in dental education today. On August 12, he explained the importance of preparing students for new methods of health care delivery in coming decades. It’s important that IPE be included in the curriculum, and faculty members are key players in teaching students about quality care and patient safety.
ADEA encourages dental school faculty to sign up for the upcoming conference. IPEC has opened registration for its October conference, Interprofessional Education: Building a Framework for Collaboration. Additional information regarding this particular Institute follows.
