ADEA joined the Coalition for Health Funding and the Committee on Education Funding in urging Members of Congress to maintain adequate funding for 302(b) allocations (letter). These allocations establish the spending cap for each of the 12 appropriation bills. It is important to note that the subcommittees themselves do not determine the level of funding for each bill; they only determine how money is allocated among the agencies and programs under the subcommittee’s jurisdiction.
In regard to health care requests, the Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee is the committee of jurisdiction because it appropriates funding for health care and dental and craniofacial research agencies, among others.
Each year the coalitions, of which ADEA is a member, join forces and partner to circulate a sign-on letter throughout
the health care communities, in support of strong 302(b) allocations for the House and Senate Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittees.
