ADEA Diversity Workshop—The
Power of Broadened Perspectives: Recruiting and Retaining Diverse Faculty in
Dental Education—is a can’t-miss learning and networking experience. The
benefits of educational diversity and the importance of identity, cultural
diversity and intercultural relations permeate the national dialogue on college
campuses. What action steps are required to recruit and retain a diverse
bring a wide range of experiences to an institution and play an important role
in broadening the educational perspectives of students and the entire campus

curricular content, research, and ideas with lifetime impact for students. Join
us for a one-day symposium centered on overcoming challenges and implementing
faculty diversity best practices as a means of broadening perspectives in
dental education. Key foci include:

practices that impact the recruitment and retention of underrepresented and
- Strategies that your dental school
or program can undertake to support underrepresented and marginalized faculty
on your campus.
The Co-chair of
the ADEA Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee, Dennis A. Mitchell, D.D.S., M.P.H., Professor and Vice Provost for
Faculty Diversity and Inclusion, Columbia University, is the featured speaker. Along with
other subject matter experts, we’ll explore faculty recruitment and retention
efforts throughout higher education, faculty diversity data trends in dental
education, and the transferability of best practices programs to your dental
school or program.
