Hi, I’m Stephenie Brooks-Maynard, Director of Membership at ADEA. Welcome to the ADEA Membership Minute.
In the studio with me this morning is Emily Rhineberger, Senior Director of Application Services and Liaison to the ADEA Council of Advanced Education Programs. Emily is updating us on ADEA’s centralized application services. Later in the segment, I’ll profile the newly upgraded
DentEd Jobs career center website, then remind viewers of important deadlines for can’t-miss ADEA meetings and events.
Welcome Emily! Thank you for joining us in the studio this morning to discuss
Emily: Thanks for having me.
Stephenie: Tell us what AADSAS stands for.
Emily: It’s the ADEA Associated American Dental Schools Application Service, or ADEA AADSAS.
Stephenie: How did ADEA kick off its dental school application service this year?
Emily: This year we had our first-ever ADEA AADSAS “soft launch.” Applicants were able to start their applications on May 15, three weeks ahead of the June 5 start date for application submissions. Our goal ws to encourage applicants to spend extra time creating and reviewing their applications to make them as strong as
possible. Dental school applicants may submit dental school applications from June 5 until Feb. 1. ADEA also hosted the
ADEA GoDental® Virtual Fairsduring the soft launch period. Over 50 dental schools participated and connected with over 2,000 applicants and people interested in dentistry.
Stephenie: What else is new in application services?
Emily: The ADEA Dental Hygiene Centralized Application Service,
, continues to grow as a service and has seen a lot of applicant engagement this cycle! I’m proud to announce that we’ve had the highest number of applicants since the service began in 2014. Also of note, Western University of Health Sciences joined the ADEA Centralized
Application for Advanced Placement for International Dentists, or
. For another CAS, the ADEA Postdoctoral Application Support Service (
) we’re prepping for a platform upgrade in 2019.
Stephenie: Thank you, Emily, for bringing our members up to speed about ADEA’s centralized application services.
