The American Dental Association (ADA), in cooperation with Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO), is helping dental faculty at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, develop academic programs that will provide chair-side instruction and lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and continuing education for faculty.
The ADA is now seeking qualified faculty members from U.S. dental schools to fill on-site volunteer positions in Tanzania, Cambodia, Kenya and Nicaragua. Areas of focus are oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, preventative and restorative dentistry, and pediatric dentistry.
HVO, with generous support from the Henry Schein Cares Foundation, will offer volunteers small grants to support their expenses associated with participating in the program. Non-funded volunteer opportunities are also available in Cambodia, Kenya and Nicaragua.
