Coping With a Dental Emergency
The KGO-TV morning news show in San Francisco, "The View from the Bay," featured Dr. A. Jeffrey Wood from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in a segment called "How to handle your child's dental emergency." Dr. Wood said parents should assess their child to be sure that he or she does not have a serious head injury and contact a dentist. "There are many variables in looking at a trauma incident and dentists will be able to tell you what the options are," he said.

The Positive Side of the Health Care Worker Shortage
In an op-ed in the The Times of Trenton (New Jersey), Dr. Julie O'Sullivan Maillet points out that the shortages "rampant throughout our health care system" will lead to new career opportunities. "It would be a mistake to overlook the looming gap between the supply and the demand for allied health professionals; particularly when that gap can so easily be bridged by thorough educational programs that are both available and accessible," she says. Dr. Maillet is Interim Dean of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Health Related Professions. Read the op-ed.
