The American Dental Association (ADA), in cooperation with Health Volunteers Overseas, is assisting dental faculty at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in developing programs to provide chair-side instruction and lectures to undergraduate and advanced dental education students, as well as continuing education for the faculty. The university has also requested assistance with revising the current dental curriculum.

The ADA is seeking qualified faculty members from U.S. dental schools to volunteer on-site in this effort. Areas of focus are oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, preventative and restorative dentistry, and pediatric dentistry. Opportunities are also available for volunteers to provide continuing education lectures at the next annual meeting of the Tanzania Dental Association.

The Henry Schein Cares Foundation will offer faculty volunteers a grant of up to $1,500 to support expenses associated with serving at this program site.
