Dean Jack Clinton Stepping Down at OHSU 

Dr. Jack Clinton, Dean of the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Dentistry will be stepping down from day-to-day operational responsibilities as Dean at the end of 2011. In his role as Dean Emeritus, Dr. Clinton will instead focus on overseeing the dental school’s transition to its new home at Portland’s South Waterfront location and raising the additional funds necessary to complete the new building.

Dr. Gary T. Chiodo will serve as the school’s Interim Dean after Dr. Clinton steps down. Dr. Chiodo is currently OHSU’s Chief Integrity Officer and is also Professor of Community Dentistry and an Associate Director of the OHSU Center for Ethics in Health Care.

Dr. Thomas Sollecito Appointed to ADA Council on Scientific Affairs

Sollecito, Chair and Professor of Oral Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, was recently appointed to the American Dental Association’s (ADA) Council on Scientific Affairs (CSA). He will serve a four-year term with the Council.

Dr. Sollecito received his D.M.D. and earned his advanced dental education certificate in Oral Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. A member of Penn’s faculty since 1990, he is also a Fellow in Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons.

The CSA provides recommendations to the ADA’s policymaking bodies on scientific issues and serves the public, the dental profession, and other health professions as the primary source of timely, relevant, and emerging information on the science of dentistry and promotion of oral health. The Council consists of 16 members who are selected and appointed by the ADA Board of Trustees from nominations open to all trustee districts.
