UNIVERSITY OF DETROIT MERCY

Director of the International Dentist Program

The University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry (UDMSD) invites applications for a new full-time position as the Director of the International Dentist Program, which provides the opportunity for foreign trained dentists to earn a D.D.S. degree. The Director’s responsibilities include: implementation of the continuum of the dental students’ clinical experience from foundational clinical skills in the simulation clinic, to patient-centered care that integrates basic and behavior science; implementation of an efficient, patient-centered dental practice that supports the educational mission; provision of direct patient care; small group seminar instruction; student assessment; personnel management, oversight of the admissions process for international dentists, and oversight of program standards to ensure CODA accreditation standards are met. The position is available immediately with the opportunity for one-day intra/extramural practice. And insure the program meets the standards for CODA accreditation.

UDMSD seeks diverse applicants with a passion for excellence who are distinguished clinicians with demonstrated managerial and mentoring skills. Qualifications include a D.D.S./D.M.D. degree from an institution accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation, eligibility for licensure in Michigan, and at least 5 years practice and/or academic experience. Academic experience is preferred and clinical/educational research experience is desirable.  Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. FULL-TIME CLINIC TRACK APPOINTMENT – Patient Management

The University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time, clinical track faculty appointment in the Department of Patient Management at the Assistant Professor level. The position is available immediately. Responsibilities include didactic and clinical teaching in pre-doctoral and post-doctoral general dentistry clinical programs.  Opportunity for one-day intra/extramural practice is available. Qualified applicants must possess a D.D.S./D.M.D. degree from a CODA accredited dental school and at least 2 years practice and/or academic experience. Completion of post-graduate training in restorative dentistry or general dentistry is preferred and experience teaching treatment planning is highly desirable. Initial salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

OREGON HEALTH AND SCIENCE UNIVERSITY 

Department Chair – Pediatric Dentistry

The School of Dentistry at the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, qualified individual for a full-time position as Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. OHSU is in the planning stages for an exciting new academic and clinical building along with growth in additional dental training programs. The Chair should hold the rank of Associate or Full Professor. 

The duties of the Chair are to support the missions, goals and objectives of the School of Dentistry while being a strong leader and builder of the department. Specifically, the Chair will be responsible for curriculum, strategic planning, budgeting and staffing the department, and fostering the development of faculty. The Chair will be expected to perform an effective leadership role in both the predoctoral and the graduate residency programs, including the Pediatric Dental Surgery Service in the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

The successful candidate is expected to have demonstrated significant achievement in teaching, research, patient care, and academic management. This individual should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to engage and grow relationships within the community. Previous success in sustaining and enhancing the academic environment by partnering with other departments and academic units is highly desirable.

Applicants must have graduated from an ADA/CODA accredited advanced education program in pediatric dentistry. An advanced degree in research or biomedical sciences is advantageous. Applicants must hold an Oregon dental license (or obtain prior to employment) and be board certified in pediatric dentistry (or in process). Participation in the school or hospital based faculty pediatric dentistry practice is available if desired.
