Launch of Children’s
Oral Health Campaign Announced; ADEA is Partner in Collaboration
ADEA is a partner in a major national public awareness
advertising campaign focusing on children’s oral health that launched today.
The Partnership for Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives, a coalition of more than 35
leading dental organizations including ADEA, partnered
with the Ad Council to launch the first joint public service campaign to
address children's oral health. The Partnership for Healthy Mouths and the Ad
Council conducted substantial research to find effective ways to reach
caregivers and motivate them to protect their children from dental disease and
The resulting national multimedia campaign will be unveiled
through a series of national and local media outlets.
The campaign aims to reduce the amount of dental disease in
children by stressing a simple message to encourage healthy behaviors. The
campaign targets parents and caregivers of children, particularly those in
low-income families who suffer a disproportionate amount of dental disease.
The Ad Council produces, distributes and promotes public service
campaigns on behalf of non-profit organizations and government agencies to
address issues such as improving the quality of life for children, preventive
health, education, community well being and strengthening families. The
private, non-profit organization is known for such iconic advertising campaigns
as Smokey Bear’s “Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires” and McGruff the Crime
Dog’s “Take A Bite Out Of Crime.” These simple messages have been proven to
motivate the public to take action.
An online toolkit for the campaign provides links to public
service television ads and tips on how to promote the campaign online and in
your local community. The toolkit is available at: http://2min2x.adcouncil.org/.
