Indiana University School of Dentistry

Indiana University School of Dentistry is located just west of Downtown Indianapolis in central Indiana. The School has a long history of education, service and research excellence. The Department of Orthodontics and Oral Facial Genetics is looking for a full-time faculty member with primary responsibilities of overseeing treatment of patients with craniofacial anomalies both at the School of Dentistry and the world renowned James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children located across the street from the School of Dentistry. Other responsibilities include didactic instruction to post-doctoral students in orthodontics.

This position is available as either tenure or clinical track.  A tenure track employee must identify scholarly activities and develop an independent research program. Faculty positions at Indiana University School of Dentistry include the opportunity for either intramural or extramural private practice.

Qualifications: Must have completed a dental or graduate program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Specialty degree in orthodontics, experience in orthodontic treatment of craniofacial anomalies and other orthognathic surgery patients and receipt of Indiana dental licensure upon hire. American Board of Orthodontics certification is desirable. Rank and salary will be based on credentials and experience.

Indiana University School of Dentistry

The Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD) invites applications for a new full-time position as the Director of the International Dental Program. IU-IDP provides the opportunity for foreign trained dentists to earn a D.D.S. degree from an accredited US dental educational program. It is anticipated that the initial enrollment of a limited number of IU-IDP students will begin January 1, 2013.

The Director's responsibilities include:

1. oversight of the admissions process for international dentists;

2. implementation and administration of the international dental program which consists of the students' clinical experience, simulated clinical experiences and patient-centered care that integrates biomedical education, professionalism, ethics, and behavior science;

3. implementation of an efficient, patient-centered dental education to attain student competency and support the educational mission of the IU School of Dentistry.

4. supervision of the provision of direct patient care;

5. leading and arranging small group seminar instruction;

6. oversight of student assessment;

7. personnel management;

8. oversight of program standards to ensure CODA accreditation standards are met; and,

9. administration of policies and procedures related to student affairs and professional conduct.

The position is clinical track and is available immediately, with the opportunity for one-day intra/extramural practice. Appropriate administrative support will be available to ensure the efficient operation of this new office. Qualifications: Must have completed a dental program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, and at least 5 years practice and/or academic experience. Indiana University School of Dentistry

Indiana University School of Dentistry trains over 85% of the dentists in the State and also trains specialists and auxiliaries. The Department of Oral Surgery and Hospital Dentistry includes residency programs in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and General Practice Residency. We have a full-time position available May 1, 2012. Primary responsibilities will include developing a didactic program in anesthesia for the oral and maxillofacial surgery residents, a didactic program for the post-graduate residents, as well as directing the predoctoral didactic program in local anesthesia, sedation, medical emergencies and a clinical predoctoral sedation elective. The individual will also participate in departmental conferences and may also be assigned additional predoctoral lectures/courses. The individual will also actively participate in the delivery of anesthesia care in the department’s clinics working with oral and maxillofacial surgery residents, general practice dental residents and predcotral students.

ROLE of the POSITION

The School of Dental Medicine invites applications for the position of Manager for Dental Laboratory Procedures and Services. The primary responsibilities include: Assist in the pre-clinical supervision and instruction of dental students performing prosthetic procedures and assist clinical faculty in training students in proper and necessary development of laboratory prescriptions communicating required laboratory services necessary for patient care.  Develop, implement and maintain, with input from clinical faculty, a quality control program monitoring laboratory cases sent to and received from commercial dental laboratories.  Consults and coordinates with both pre-clinical and clinical faculty, laboratory support necessary for both fixed and removable prosthodontics. Supervises dental  laboratory support staff; inspects work in progress, repairs dental prosthesis, ensure quality control and compliance with dental prescriptions, conducts regular training sessions to ensure calibration of staff  reviewing laboratory cases submitted by dental student, manages dental  laboratory assets by conducting semi-annual inventory. In addition, assures compliance with all regulatory requirements of UNLV, Nevada, and federal agencies; maintains logs, maintenance and inspection reports, and provides information to university administration regarding laboratory needs and operations        

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a bachelor degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university and six years of experience with a Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the degree.

SALARY RANGE        

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions.  Position is contingent upon funding.

University of Iowa School of Dentistry
