The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) is excited to announce that its Board of Directors selected Iguaçu Falls, Brazil, as the new location of the 90th General Session & Exhibition of the IADR during an emergency session. The meeting will be held in conjunction with IADR’s Latin America Regional Meeting, June 20-23, 2012.
Last month, IADR was informed that due to the Brazilian Government rescheduling a United Nations Conference in Rio de Janeiro—the original location for the IADR General Session—on the exact dates of the IADR General Session, the city’s conference center was no longer available to IADR. Despite being displaced from one location in Brazil, IADR remains committed to retaining the same dates and to keeping the meeting in Brazil.
Iguaçu Falls is one of the top destinations in South America and one of the great natural wonders of the world. The city is geographically situated near the border of Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina. The Friendship Bridge connects Brazil to Paraguay, and the Fraternity Bridge connects Brazil to Argentina. “IADR is delighted to hold its General Session in Iguaçu Falls, Brazil,” stated IADR President E. Dianne Rekow. “The selection of Iguaçu Falls at the border of three countries symbolizes IADR’s rapid membership growth from all parts of the IADR Latin American region.”
As with previous IADR General Sessions, this one will provide attendees with a platform to network with peers while learning the latest in dental, oral, and craniofacial research. The meeting will feature scientific abstracts, Lunch & Learning tables, hands-on workshops, and three Distinguished Lecture Series speakers: Miguel Nicolelis, Karen E. Nelson, and Mari Cleide Sogayar.
