The Oral Facial Surgery Institute in St. Louis, Missouri, has announced that applications are now open for the Oral and Maxillofacial Fellowship 2012-13. This advanced accredited opportunity is a year of hospital-based oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) centered at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, a level-one trauma center located in suburban St. Louis.

This one-year fellowship will focus on facial cosmetic surgery, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery and replacement, reconstruction, orthognathic, facial trauma, complex dental implantology, and trigeminal nerve repair. Fellowship candidates must have completed an approved OMFS residency along with a Missouri dental or medical licensure. Salary, benefits, and continuing education allowance are included. The online application form is available in PDF format.

The focus of the fellowship is to train surgeons to be competent in full-scope OMFS. The diagnosis, interdisciplinary treatment planning, treatment, and management of patients will be the core of the rotation. Trauma, hospital coverage, and supervision of general practitioners should be anticipated.
