The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) recently released a funding opportunity announcement for Faculty Development in General, Pediatric, and Public Health Dentistry, and in Dental Hygiene.

This program aims to fund institutions having objectives to:

  1. Plan, develop, and operate a program for the training of oral health care providers who plan to teach in general, pediatric, or public health dentistry, or in dental hygiene
  2. Provide financial assistance in the form of traineeships and fellowships to dentists who plan to teach or are teaching in general, pediatric, or public health dentistry
  3. Meet the costs of projects to establish, maintain, or improve dental faculty development programs in primary care (which may be departments, divisions, or other units)

The program period covers fiscal 2012 through fiscal 2016, with approximately $3 million expected to be available in fiscal 2012 for six projects. Applications are due by February 9, 2012.
