Dr. Gehrke to Receive Du Brul Award From UIC

Gehrke, Clinical Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Dentistry, will receive the college’s E. Lloyd Du Brul Faculty Achievement Award in April 2012. The award is presented for significant and meritorious activity as a UIC faculty member, reflecting Dr. Du Brul’s commitment to excellence in education.

Dr. Gehrke has been a member of UIC’s faculty since 1982 and has been involved in more than 30 college committees and subcommittees. He developed UIC’s Removable Partial Denture Education and Patient Care Policies and Guidelines and currently serves on the Dr. Allen W. Anderson Faculty Dental Practice Management Committee. Elected as a faculty member to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, Dr. Gehrke is also the recipient of an Award of Merit for Outstanding Clinical Achievement in a Comprehensive Patient Care Program.

 

 

UIC to Give Towner Award to Dr. Maggio

Maggio, Clinical Associate Professor of Periodontology at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Dentistry, will receive the college’s F. William Towner Organized Dentistry Activity Award in April 2012. The award is given to a recipient who shows significant and meritorious activity in organized dentistry.

A former President of the Illinois State Dental Society, the Fox River Valley Dental Society, the McHenry Dental Society, and the Illinois Society of Periodontists, Dr. Maggio is also a former Chair of the Dental Lifeline Network. He has also served on the American Dental Association’s (ADA) Health Foundation and as the ADA Trustee from the Eighth District.

Dr. Maggio has been the Legislative Issues Chair for the Midwest Society of Periodontology and Chair of Delta Dental of Illinois. He has also taught at the Loyola University School of Dentistry and the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry in New York.

 

 

Dr. Haubenreich Wins Great Teacher Award 

Dr. James E. Haubenreich has been awarded the University of Kentucky Alumni Association 2012 Great Teacher Award. Dr. Haubenreich is an Associate Professor of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Kentucky (UK) College of Dentistry. The award, begun in 1961, is the oldest continuous award that recognizes teaching at UK.
