CANADA

University of Saskatchewan College of Dentistry

The College of Dentistry invites applications from qualified individuals for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in Prosthodontics.

The successful candidate will be required to deliver didactic, pre-clinical and clinical teaching; supervise student research projects; initiate, lead and participate in research activities; compete successfully for external funding to support this research program; and undertake relevant administrative activities including meetings and committee work.

We seek candidates who have postgraduate specialty training in prosthodontics at the Masters or PhD level; an interest and ability to engage in scholarly activities as evidenced by established or developing research initiatives; a strong or emerging research program; demonstrated effective classroom teaching skills and mentorship; clinical experience in prosthodontics; effective interpersonal and communication skills.  Preference will be given to those who have been awarded a Fellowship diploma by the Royal College of Dentists of Canada or certification by an American Dental Association-Recognized Specialty Certifying Board.

Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the College of Dental Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CDSS) and are encouraged to familiarize themselves with Saskatchewan licensing requirements:  http://www.saskdentists.com/saskatchewan-licensing-requirements.html. Candidates who are graduates from non-accredited dental training programs must achieve National Dental Examining Board of Canada certification (http://www.ndeb.ca/) and/or Royal College of Dentists of Canada Fellowship (http://www.rcdc.ca/home.cfm) to achieve tenure. MISSOURI

University of Missouri - Kansas City – School of Dentistry

Faculty Positions Spring 2013
Assistant/Associate Professor (Clinical), Pediatric Dentistry, Position 36646 
This is a 100% benefit eligible, full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in Pediatric Dentistry. The department is responsible for pre-doctoral education, research, patient care, and service. Specific responsibilities will concentrate on pre-doctoral classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction, with opportunities for research and clinical practice for the qualified candidate. Candidates must have a DMD/DDS degree, and should be eligible for licensure in Missouri. Candidates with specialty training in pediatric dentistry are preferred, however general dentists with an interest and experience in pediatric dentistry may be considered. 

Assistant/Associate Professor (Clinical), Orthodontics Department, Position 38815
This is a 100% benefit eligible, full-time faculty in the Orthodontics Department. Qualified candidates must have training and experience in orthodontics and a commitment to teaching, clinical dentistry, scholarly activities such as research, and service. Specific responsibilities include pre- and post-doctoral classroom, laboratory and clinical teaching and supervision of student research. Academic rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Qualified tenure track candidates may be eligible to participate in the intramural faculty practice one day per week. For non US DDS candidates with US training and board eligibility in orthodontics dentistry, a foreign faculty DDS program is available after an initial period of service. 

Assistant/Associate Professor, Department of Periodontics, Position 38087
The position of Director of the Advanced Education Program in Periodontics is a 100% benefit eligible tenure-track or tenured faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Specific responsibilities concentrate on all aspects of the didactic and clinical training of periodontal residents. These include, but are not limited to, coordination of all didactic curriculum and seminars, organizing and preparing the curriculum, administrative and supervisory responsibilities, and clinical coordination of the residency program. There are opportunities for research and clinical practice for the qualified candidate. Candidates should have a DMD/DDS degree, American Board certification in Periodontics, have experience in the placement of dental implants, and be certified in IV Conscious Sedation. Current licensure in Missouri is preferred. For non-US DDS candidates with US training and board certification in periodontics, an international faculty DDS program is available after an initial period of service.

Assistant/Associate Professor (Clinical), Department of Endodontics, Position 38683
This is a 100% benefit eligible full time position in the Department of Endodontics. The faculty member will provide classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction for pre-doctoral dental students, and work collaboratively with the School’s advanced education program in Endodontics. Qualified candidates should hold a DDS or DMD and be Board eligible or, preferably, Board certified in Endodontics. Academic rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Qualified candidates may be eligible to participate in faculty practice one day per week.

OKLAHOMA

University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry - Assistant/Associate Professor Position – Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology

The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry seeks candidates for a full-time tenure-track or consecutive term faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.  The department has teaching responsibilities in both the predoctoral and postgraduate curricula.  The applicant has the opportunity to participate in an active biopsy service, clinical oral pathology patient care and continuing education.  Requirements include a DDS/DMD degree, a certificate in oral and maxillofacial pathology from an accredited US or Canadian program and eligibility for licensure in Oklahoma.  The candidate must be board-eligible.  Board certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology is preferred.  Review of applications will begin upon receipt and will continue until the position is filled.  Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.  The position is available July 1, 2013.  Applicants should send a curriculum vitae including three references, to Dr. David Lewis, Department of Oral and  Maxillofacial Pathology, University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry.  The University of Oklahoma is an EO/AA employer.

SOUTH CAROLINA

Medical University of South Carolina James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine - Chair, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS)

The James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine (JBECDM), Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC seeks applications for a full-time, tenure track position to serve as the Chair of the Department of OMFS available July 1, 2013.  Requirements include:  a DDS/DMD from an accredited U.S. Dental School; certification by the ABOMS; demonstrated leadership ability; a broad range of competency in patient care; predoctoral and postdoctoral teaching at the OMFS residency level; and research experience.  An understanding of the operation of a comprehensive academic health center including working in multiple hospital settings and a College of Dental Medicine is most desirable. Responsibilities include leadership, coordination and participation in predoctoral education and residency program training in OMFS, research and continuing education activities of the department.
