After nine years of service, four years as a full-time staff member and five as a consultant, Lynn Whittaker, director of publications and public relations, has left ADEA to return to her home state of Georgia. Lynn first came to ADEA as a consultant on various ADEA publications and joined the staff full-time in 2001. She served as managing editor of the Journal of Dental Education and editor of the Bulletin of Dental Education. Under her tenure, the Journal of Dental Education saw a significant increase in the number of submissions as well as the number of articles published annually, which she attributes to the exceptional skills of the JDE’s editor, Dr. Olav Alvares.
Lynn also served as a key writer of many ADEA publications, including the ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools and has skillfully served as the staff liaison to the Council of Sections. She will continue to work as the managing editor of the Journal of Dental Education from her new home. Lynn will continue to be the staff liaison to the Council of Sections through the end of the Annual Session.
A search for Lynn's replacement is nearly complete.
Bill Whipple has left ADEA to pursue other opportunities. He was a customer service representative for four years.
David McGill, administrative assistant in the ADEA Center for Public Policy and Advocacy, has left ADEA to begin a five-month internship in the public affairs firm of Fleishman Hillard. David joined the ADEA staff in January 2005 while working toward an M.P.H. at George Washington University, which he has since earned. David plans to begin law school in August.
