The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has named Rebecca S. Wilder, RDH, B.S., M.S. editor-in-chief of the Journal of Dental Hygiene effective this month. As editor of the journal, Prof. Wilder will be responsible for the overall content of the journal, including soliciting articles and other scientific materials for publication, reviewing the content of manuscripts prior to publication, appointing members of the JDH editorial review board, and overseeing the manuscript review process.
She has served as a formal manuscript reviewer for many dental hygiene publications, including JDH. She is currently an editor for the 2nd edition of Mosby’s Dental Hygiene: Concepts, Cases, Competencies to be published in 2007. Prof. Wilder is the recipient of several professional awards and has published approximately 100 articles and abstracts in professional journals. She the past chair of ADHA’s Institute for Oral Health Research Grant Review Committee and is presently chair of ADHA’s Council on Research.
Prof. Wilder has been a member of the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry faculty since 1981. She currently is associate professor and director of the graduate dental hygiene education program, also teaching undergraduate dental hygiene courses in periodontology and management and administration. She formerly was co-director of the practice management course for junior dental students and advanced education general dentistry residents.
She earned her associate of applied science degree from Guilford Technical Community college in Jamestown, North Carolina, and her baccalaureate and masters in dental hygiene education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City
