Eric T. Stoopler, D.M.D., Associate Professor of Oral Medicine at University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, has been recognized for his excellence in teaching as a 2013 recipient of the University of Pennsylvania’s Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation Awards for Distinguished Teaching.

After serving for 10 years as the Dean of the University of Florida College of Dentistry, Teresa A. Dolan, D.D.S., M.P.H., has announced her intention to step down at the conclusion of the 2012-13 academic year. Boyd Robinson, D.D.S., M.Ed., Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and Interim Chair of the Department of Restorative Dental Sciences, will serve as Interim Dean. A national search for a successor to Dr. Dolan will begin shortly.

Indiana University School of Dentistry Appoints First Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration John N. Williams, D.M.D., M.B.A., Dean of Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD), announced that Timothy P. Brown, M.B.A. has been appointed IUSD Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration.

The American Association of Dental Boards (AADB) concluded its search process, naming James Tarrant, M.A., CAE, as the new Executive Director, effective January 7, 2013. The Executive Council is very excited about Mr. Tarrant and the knowledge, experience, professionalism, and enthusiasm that he will bring to AADB. This appointment begins the transition from the many years of dedicated service Molly Nadler gave to AADB and initiates a new course for the Association.

The Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees appointed Bruce Rotter, D.M.D, M.S., as Dean of the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine (SIU SDM) in Alton, Illinois. His appointment was effective November 9, 2012.

A. Thomas Indresano, D.M.D. was appointed to the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry’s Dr. T. Galt and Lee DeHaven Atwood Endowed Professorship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Colonel Priscilla H. Hamilton has been appointed as Chief of Army Graduate Dental Education and Dean of the Army Postgraduate Dental School. In this position, she becomes a member of the ADEA Council of Deans. She succeeds Colonel Robert Manga in these roles.

Dr. Cristina Teixeira, associate professor of orthodontics and of basic science and craniofacial biology, has been appointed Chair of the Department of Orthodontics at New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD), effective immediately. Dr. Teixeira had been serving as the interim chair of the Department of Orthodontics since September 2011.

Kenneth L. Kalkwarf, D.D.S., M.S., has been nominated as President-elect of the American College of Dentistry, after serving as Vice President of ACD recently. Dr. Kalkwarf is currently the President ad interim of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, after serving as Dean of the School of Dentistry. He also serves on the ADEA Council of Deans, previously served as 2006–07 ADEA President, and served with the ADEA Leadership Institute, ADEA Commission on Change and Innovation in Dental Education, and ADEAGies Foundation Board of Trustees.

Connie L. Drisko, D.D.S., Dean and Merritt Professor at the Georgia Health Sciences University College of Dental Medicine, has announced that she will leave her leadership role as Dean effective July 1, 2013. Dr. Drisko oversaw an era of unprecedented growth at the state’s only dental school. She will remain on the college’s faculty.
