Noel J. Aymat, D.M.D., FAAPD, J.D., has been appointed Acting Dean of the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine. He succeeds Dr. Humberto Villa Rivera, who remains on the faculty of the school.

Recognition of Donald Brown, D.D.S. was long overdue. When it came, his family accepted it graciously, with smiles and tears. Dr. Brown was the first African-American graduate of the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Dentistry. That was in 1965, when African-American names were often excluded from routine public announcements. 

NYU Dental Researcher Awarded $3.7 Million NIH Grant to Study How Older Adults Access Oral Health Care in Underserved Urban Communities

Mary E. Northridge, Ph.D., M.P.H., Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and Health Promotion at the New York University College of Dentistry, has been awarded a five-year, $3.7 million grant from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) and the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR), of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), to analyze how Hispanic and African American older adults living in underserved urban communities in New York City overcome barriers to accessing oral health care services.

The ADEA Leadership Institute is excited to announce their Fellows for 2012-13. Since 1999, more than 200 fellows from predoctoral, allied, and advanced dental education have participated in the ADEA Leadership Institute. Institute fellows hold positions ranging from department chairs to program directors to deans of dental schools.

The Oral Facial Surgery Institute in St. Louis, Missouri, has announced that applications are now open for the Oral and Maxillofacial Fellowship 2012-13. This advanced accredited opportunity is a year of hospital-based oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) centered at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, a level-one trauma center located in suburban St. Louis.
