Manitoba Health Supports Collaborative Oral Systemic Health Curriculum

Manitoba Health announced $500,000 in funding (over five years) to the faculties of Medicine and Dentistry toward development of a groundbreaking online curriculum to educate nondental health care providers about oral health. Diseases and conditions of the oral cavity can have a profound and pervasive impact on overall health, especially in high-risk populations where access to dental care may be limited.

ADEA Curriculum Resource Center Now Contains Four Modules

The ADEA Curriculum Resource Center (ADEA CRC) library now contains curriculum guides on dental plaque biofilm, dentin hypersensitivity, erosion, and periodontal diseases and overall health. ADEA members can take advantage of this unique educational resource for free. The guides were developed by an esteemed group of individuals and higher learning institutions recognized for their expertise in dental education.

Open House/Ribbon Cutting at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry to Celebrate New Associate of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene

Loma Linda University (LLU) School of Dentistry will hold an open house and ribbon cutting on November 28, 2011, in Palm Desert, California. At the event, LLU and School of Dentistry officials will announce the launch of a new dental hygiene associate of science degree program in the Coachella Valley municipality.

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), in partnership with the Health Resources and Services Administration, announces a call for submissions for instructional resources to support an oral health in medicine model curriculum, disseminated through MedEdPORTAL, the association’s publication repository for peer-reviewed open-access educational resources.

The Crowne Plaza Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas, will host the ADEA Fall 2011 Meetings, including the Fourth ADEA Summit on Advanced Dental Education, from October 20-22, 2011. Opening the World of Academic Dentistry to UDM Students

University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) School of Dentistry, a small core of predoctoral dental and dental hygiene students completed a monthly series of workshops. The Workshops in Academic Dentistry were designed to engage dental and dental hygiene students and faculty in an informal discussion of topics related to academic dentistry.
