ADEA is proud to welcome the 18th Surgeon General of the United States, Regina M. Benjamin, to the popular Evening Plenary on Gender Issues: Discourse and Dessert on Sunday, March 13, at the 2011 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition in San Diego, California. Appointed to the position of Surgeon General in 2009 by President Barack Obama, Dr. Benjamin has had a career full of twists and turns that she often describes in bringing attention to the state of health care for the country's underserved populations.

Laguna Honda Hospital Dental Clinic Opening Celebrates Partnership with Dugoni School

Dental and medical professionals, political leaders, and university administrators gathered at the new campus of Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center in San Francisco on February 3 to celebrate the opening of its dental clinic. The event offered an opportunity for attendees to tour the hospital's new facilities, learn more about services provided to its 780 residents, and ask questions of hospital and dental clinic directors and staff.

"Mike" Simpson, who will address attendees on Monday, April 4, 2011. Republican Mike Simpson represents the Second District of Idaho and is one of only two dentists in the U.S. Congress.

March 2011 Transitions

Dr. Jane A. Weintraub has been appointed as the new Dean of the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. She was selected after a national search, and her appointment was approved by the University's Board of Trustees at the end of January. She begins on July 1, 2011.
