Members of the ADEA House of Delegates will vote for ADEA's next President-elect at the 2010 ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition in Washington, DC. The ADEA Board of Directors has accepted the recommendation of the ADEA Nominating Committee and has slated Leo E. Rouse, D.D.S., as the candidate to stand for election as the 2010-2011 ADEA President-elect.
The UTHSCH Dental Branch Hispanic Student Dental Association (HSDA) is comprised of 49 dental and dental hygiene students. The association was revitalized in 2000 under the faculty supervision of Ms. Melchor and has held an active student chapter membership since that time.
The Oral Health America 2009 Symposium, "Collaborative Health Care for Older Adults: A Symposium for Creating Dialogue Between Medicine and Dentistry," took place on October 16, 2009, at the New York Academy of Sciences. Medical, dental, and academic communities came together to discuss health issues affecting older Americans.
ADEA is pleased to announce a new web-based manuscript submission and peer review system. ADEA has partnered with Manuscript Central to join the more than 3,400 journals currently using this system.
The National Museum of Dentistry has unveiled a new interactive program on its website, "Your Spitting Image." This new component of the museum's web presence features an in-depth exploration of forensics, saliva, and bioengineering as it relates to science, dentistry, and oral health.
Launched in 2006 at the UMKC School of Dentistry, the ADEA/AAL ITL took its first group of participants from 13 dental schools and five private practitioners and taught them the skills needed to successfully navigate academic dentistry.
At the end of November 2009, the Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry, Temple University signed an agreement with the American Dental Association (ADA) to become the urban site of the ADA's Community Dental Health Coordinator (CDHC) pilot program.
