WU CDM students are learning professionalism, evidence-based practice and interpersonal skills by collaborating internationally with other dental students. They joined the Global Citizenship in Dentistry collaborative in fall 2013, and work with schools around the world including students at the Hong Kong University Faculty of Dentistry.
In dentistry, quality improvement has traditionally focused on a tooth or a procedure—complete caries removal, crown fit, denture retention, occlusal harmony or esthetics. To help the dental profession understand quality improvement to benefit its patients, DQA and IHI have launched a free online course.
Dental hygiene faculty and students at Central Community College had the opportunity to share their expertise with the perioscope with the UNMC COD periodontics program. Central Community College received a Perkins Grant to fund the perioscope. For the past two years, patients have benefited from this new tool.
