// ADEA Scholarships, Awards and Fellowships

ADEA, in conjunction with its corporate partners, is pleased to announce our 2008 Awards, Fellowships and Scholarships. A variety of awards are offered, including student scholarships, awards for educators, and funding opportunities for various fellowships. Please review descriptions below.

Please be sure to check the requirements and deadline of the award for which you are applying. Applications will not be accepted once a deadline has passed.

The 2009 application cycle will begin Monday, August 4th. The information listed below is for informational purposes only. Information is subject to change.

Application for Allied Dental and Dental Educators
For Students:
ADEA/Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Preventive Dentistry Scholarships
-	Twelve $2,500 scholarships for pre-doctoral students who have demonstrated excellence in preventive dentistry.
ADEA/Crest Oral-B Laboratories Scholarship for Dental Hygiene Students Pursuing Academic Careers
-	Two $2,000 scholarships for dental hygiene students pursuing academic careers
ADEA/Sigma Phi Alpha Linda DeVore Scholarship
-	A $1,000 scholarship recognizing an individual pursuing allied dental education study at the bachelor’s, masters or doctoral degree level
For Allied Dental Educators:
ADEA/Colgate Palmolive Allied Dental Educators Fellowship
-	A $4,000 stipend for participation in the ADEA Leadership Institute OR to pursue a 3-month Fellowship at ADEA in Washington, DC)
ADEA/GlaxoSmithKline Dental Hygiene Fellowship Program
-	A stipend of $11,000 plus travel-related expenses of approximately $2,000 will be awarded to up to three dental hygiene educators for a one-year fellowship. The program provides opportunities for dental hygiene educators to enhance their teaching skills and develop or refine presentation methods.
For Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Educators:
ADEA/GlaxoSmithKline Sensodyne® Excellence in Teaching Award
-	A $2,500 award to be used to enhance teaching efforts
ADEA/Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products / Enid A. Neidle Scholar-in-Residence Program for Women
-	A $6,000 stipend to pursue a cumulative 3-month fellowship at ADEA in Washington, DC researching issues affecting women faculty
For All Dental Educators:
ADEA/ADEA Council of Students/VitalSource Technologies, Inc., Junior Faculty Award
-	A $2,500 award to be used to enhance teaching, research, and/or service efforts
ADEA/GlaxoSmithKline/National Dental Association Dr. Jeanne C. Sinkford Scholarship
-	A $15000 scholarship provides the opportunity for a dental educator who is closely aligned with the promotion of equity and diversity on her campus to participate in the ADEA Leadership Institute.
ADEA/Sunstar Americas, Inc. Harry W. Bruce Jr., Legislative Fellowship
-	A $15,000 stipend to pursue a cumulative 3-month fellowship at ADEA in Washington, DC working on issues on the legislative agenda
ADEA/VitalSource Technologies, Inc., Dental Education Award
-	A new laptop computer (with a value of up to $2,500) will be presented to a dental educator demonstrating the most innovative and effective integration of VitalBook-based digital content into dental education courses.
ADEA/William J. Gies Foundation Education Fellowship
-	A $10,000 stipend to pursue a cumulative 3-month fellowship at ADEA in Washington, DC researching educational issues facing dental education)
For All Dental Educators and Dental Schools:
ADEA/William J. Gies Foundation Research Scholarship
-	A $35,000 award to support interest in dental research at the pre-doctoral level.
William J. Gies Awards for Vision, Innovation, and Achievement
-	Several awards honoring those from academic dental institutions, dental educators, and corporate, nonprofit, or governmental partners whose work has fueled progress in dental education and global oral health
ADEA/International Federation of Dental Educators and Associations Orna Shanley Prize
-	A $1,000 prize is awarded to an academic dental institution able to demonstrate innovative solutions that address local access to care issues.
ADEA/Zimmer Dental Implant Education Teaching Award
-	A $25,000 award to recognize an institution and dental educator team that demonstrates a commitment to excellence and innovation in the field of implant dentistry education. (Applications accepted as of August 4, 2008)
The New ADEA Photography Awards for 2008
-	Three cash prizes plus the opportunity to see your image published or exhibited. Any ADEA member can enter. Forms you'll need: - Photographer release - Photo subject release
