 Experiences From Fellows

Prof. Rebecca Wilder, Director of Faculty Development, and Director of Graduate Dental Hygiene Education, University of North Carolina School of Dentistry; ADEA Leadership Institute Fellow, Class of 2008
"The ADEA Leadership Institute was extremely valuable to me as an academician. It provided a very broad perspective of the issues facing dental and higher education which is important for any leader to understand. It also provided a platform for introspective analysis as well as peer assessment—all of which is vital to personal and professional growth. The camaraderie with other dental and dental hygiene academicians from institutions all over the country was helpful in that it helped me obtain a perspective about my own institution that I might not have realized otherwise…and identify the challenges and opportunities we have before us.  Lastly, the Institute instills a confidence in the participant to plan and implement their own career path. I highly recommend the Institute for anyone who is passionate about dental and/or dental hygiene education and who wants to develop the skills and expertise to lead and implement change in an effective manner.”
