Program Title
Your title is what captures attention first so in 10 words or less, encapsulate the key concept why a conference registrant should attend your session. A descriptive title is a concise expression of the content of your session.
Session Description
Summarize the key concepts of your session and note the value of participation. Focus the abstract on what the participant will learn, not what you will present.
Session Learning Objectives
Attendees want to know what they can expect to gain as a result of participating in your session. Learning objectives state the desired results from the participant’s perceptive. Start each objective with “You will be able to…” As a rule of thumb, learning objectives include concrete action verbs.
Attitude development-based objectives are used when a learner needs to increase awareness or sensitivity to issues or change attitudes. Sample action verbs include: adjust, realize, choose.
Skill development-based objectives are appropriate when a specific task needs to be executed. Sample action verbs include: solve, develop, design.
Knowledge development-based objectives are used when a learner must comprehend information, analyze concepts, or demonstrated acquired knowledge. Sample action verbs include: differentiate, define, recognize.
Learning objectives are SMART:
S - Specific (does it specify one single key result)
M - Measurable (can a determination be made as to whether the result is achieved)
A - Attainable (can the desired result be achieved as a result of the presentation)
R - Relevant (is this of interest and of importance to the audience)
T - Time-Based (can it be achieved within a fairly immediate timeframe)
