Howard University
The Howard University College of Dentistry, the fifth oldest dental school in the United States, is known for its diverse student body and range of programs in allied, predoctoral, and postdoctoral dentistry. It is a unique institution located in the nation’s capital and the power center of the world. The College has trained thousands of highly skilled dental professionals to serve their communities, particularly the underserved. Pre-clinical dental education at Howard takes place in a simulation laboratory, and research contributes at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

A reception with light fare will follow. Round-trip transportation will be provided by ADEA. Space is limited, so advance registration is strongly encouraged.

University of Maryland
The University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery is the direct descendant of the world’s first dental school, chartered by the Maryland General Assembly in 1840. Along with its unique history and tradition, the school has a new facility that opened in fall 2006 and a diverse student body pursuing allied, predoctoral, and postdoctoral dental education. The school is Maryland's major provider of comprehensive and emergency oral health services, with more than 122,000 patient visits annually.

A light lunch will be provided. Round-trip transportation will be provided by ADEA. Space is limited, so advance registration is strongly encouraged.

ADEA Discourse & Dessert
An Evening Plenary on Gender Issues: “Navigating the River”
Speaker: J.C. Hayward

Ms. J.C. Hayward, the first woman news anchor in the Washington, DC, market, will be this year’s featured speaker at An Evening Plenary on Gender Issues: Discourse and Dessert. Ms. Hayward recently celebrated her 36th year at WUSA 9, a record of longevity matched by only one other female anchor in the United States. Ms. Hayward is consistently rated one of the top news broadcasters in DC and was once voted Washingtonian magazine's "Washingtonian of the Year."

Ms. Hayward joins the list of illustrious guest speakers who have addressed ADEA members through ADEA’s Discourse and Dessert over the past 17 years. All ADEA members are invited to engage in dialogue with this great communicator, who will discuss women’s career trajectories and variations on their paths to achievement. Please note, for this event a fee is assessed with registration.

ADEA President’s Reception and Dance

Enjoy good times with friends old and new at the ADEA President’s Reception and Dance, a highlight of the 2010 ADEA Annual Session and Exhibition. Light fare and live music will bring together all attendees for an evening of fun. Be there in your party attire so you can enjoy mingling with your colleagues. This is a ticketed event that requires pre-registration. You will receive your ticket when you check in at registration.

ADEA Workshop and Recruitment Fair for Predental Students and Advisors
Saturday, February 27, 2010, 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

The ADEA Workshop and Recruitment Fair is a great opportunity to meet dental school admissions officials and dental students and discover what dental school is all about. You'll also learn about careers in dentistry, how to apply to dental school, financing a dental education, and summer enrichment programs for predental students. This workshop is FREE to students and advisors, but you must register. Lunch will be provided at no charge. There will be a raffle for prizes at the ADEA Workshop and Recruitment Fair. Learn more.
