A program presented by an ADEA disciplinary or interest group related to current trends in dental education and the area of discipline. These sessions are typically cross-disciplinary and appeals to all.

Faculty Development Workshops (FDW)

An FDW provides an active learning environment to learn about more effective assessment tools, enhance the scholarship of teaching and learning, investigate new strategies for professional development, explore change and innovation, develop new curricular strategies, or develop collaborative research models. Please note, for this event a fee is assessed with registration.

ADEA Leadership Institute Alumni Association (ADEA LIAA)

For the ADEA Annual Session, the ADEA Leadership Institute Alumni Association (ADEA LIAA) will present sessions that help to further the leadership and personal development of future leaders in dental and higher education.

Lunch & Learns (L&L)

An L&L is an informal lunch discussion for as many as nine participants to examine critical issues facing the dental education community. These sessions demonstrate the potential for a lively, interactive group conversation as the outcome. Each L&L will be offered twice. Please note, for this event a fee is assessed with registration. The fee includes a boxed lunch.

Members' Forum

The annual gathering of an ADEA Section or Special Interest Group during which new officers are elected, results of the group's activities for the past year are discussed, and general business and future planning takes place. All members, prospective members, and other individuals are invited to attend these meetings.

New Idea Sessions

A New Idea Session allows presenters and participants to explore a newly formed idea. The New Idea Session is designed to pique participants’ interest and introduce unique, unusual, or innovative ideas.

Poster Presentations and Student Poster Presentations

Presented during Exhibition hours, Poster Presentations provide members the opportunity to discuss issues of mutual interest in three categories:

  • New Programs
  • Educational Research
  • Works in Progress

A poster author may be the primary author of, at most, two poster abstracts. A special competition is also held for Student Poster Presentations. All poster abstracts, except for Works in Progress, will be published in the Journal of Dental Education.

ADEA Presidential Symposiums

Symposia speakers invited by the ADEA President to discuss topics related to the 2010 ADEA Annual Session theme, Assessment: Portraits of Change.

ADEA SoTLfest

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTLfest)-related sessions examine how teaching is valued, assessed, and rewarded and how it contributes overall to the learning experience of students and educators. These sessions typically describe best practices in teaching, assessment, scholarship, proven ways of delivering ideas and knowledge, and increasing the quality of the teaching and learning experience.

Participants can be recognized for their participation in this track. To be eligible for an ADEA SoTLfest Certificate of Recognition, attendees must pre-register and attend the required Presidential Symposium, Using Faculty Assessment to Foster the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and three other SoTLfest-designated events.

A symposium specifically addresses a topic relevant to the theme of the 2010 ADEA Annual Session, Assessment: Portraits of Change.

ADEA TechExpo Presentations

An ADEA TechExpo Presentation demonstrates computer-based technology applications used to support dental education, including enhancing educational and patient care programs and services. The ADEA TechExpo consists of tabletop demonstrations or presentations. This format is best suited for demonstration of software and hardware in an interactive one-to-one or small group setting.  Program length: 3 hours.
